Silverglance Software programs installed on a machine may be accessed by all user accounts on that machine. The following notes and restrictions should be observed:

Windows XP

  • With Windows XP, users without elevated rights cannot modify/save files created by other users and the software will not run properly. To achieve this, users other than that used to install the sotfware need to be Administrators or Power Users.

  • To install the software, administration rights are required.

  • Once installed, the software will not be available to other users without Administration or Power User rights. If the software is to be used by a user without administration rights, then the user needs to be made a Power User. This can be done from Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Local Users and Groups, Users, Member Of. Alternatively, elevate the user rights of the account to Administrator temporarily during installation.

  • Program settings, including data set in Options, are specific to each user.

  • Program files will be installed in the following folders, shared between all users:
      Multi-program settings files:
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Documents\Silverglance\Appdata\Common
      Application-specific settings files:
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Documents\Silverglance\Appdata\(Program)
      Documents created by the program
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Documents\Silverglance\Documents\(Program)


    Windows Vista, Windows 7

  • To install the software, administration rights are required. The software may be installed from an account without admin rights but login details for an administrator will be required.

  • The program will be available to all users on the computer. Documents and settings files created/saved by one user can be opened and saved by all other users.

  • Program settings, including data set in Options, are specific to each user.

  • Program files wil be installed in the following folders, shared between all users:
      Multi-program settings files
      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Silverglance\Appdata\Common
      Application-specific settings files
      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Silverglance\Appdata\(Program)
      Documents created by the program
      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Silverglance\Documents\(Program)
